My 1 minute documentary was about my own “stuff” and what my personal possessions mean to me. It seemed only appropriate that I would make my final documentary about my husband’s business….and other people’s stuff.
My husband has been in the business of hauling junk away for a few years. He does this as a “side thing” in addition to his regular work. I know a lot about the business and am often annoyed. Imagine a stranger’s coffee cup showing up in your own kitchen cabinet.
The work is sometimes emotional, but at the end of the day…the work he does is necessary and does many people good. I’ve followed him around a few times but because of this assignment I went on a job that effected me in a very profound way.
What I’ve learned from my husband is humans need to get by with less stuff and you can’t take it with you. The biggest thing I’ve learned is that kindness, strength of character and this man and a truck can improve even the worst situation. I hope I did him justice in trying to tell his story.
